Design Instructor is the portfolio and resource website of author, educator, and new media specialist Richard Lewis.
With over 15 years of web design experiences and 5 years of teaching under my belt, I am now sharing my skills as a hybrid designer/educator.
Richard Lewis is a media design guru who specializes in visual effects and motion graphics for Internet based applications. His skills have produce memorable and commanding online presence for clients such as Konami, Atari, Electronic Arts, Blizzard Interactive and Mythic Entertainment while working as a web developer in Los Angeles California for Petrol Advertising. After leaving Los Angeles Richard worked for PBMAI in Boca Raton, Florida as the interactive media director creating online campaigns for such clients as as nReagan Spa, Rapoport’s Restaurant group, and Filette Water. He worked with both boutique microsite design and large e-commerce websites that featured full-blown social media campaigns. Currently Richard is a professor of web design for the MFA program at Digital Media Arts College. In addition to teaching he is also a published author of the Bear Legend series of interactive iBooks.
“When I hired Richard, I was desperate for a teacher who knew all facets of design and technology. Richard was the perfect fit. Within six months, he became a lead instructor taking over both introductory & portfolio classes. Student’s portfolios began to exemplify true professionalism with both a digital and print component. He juggled a full time teaching job while also pursuing his MFA. He is a consummate professional in all things he does.”

“While working at PBMAI, I had the opportunity on several occasions to collaborate with Richard on various multimedia assignments. His performance at the company always managed to eclipse a certain deficiency in resources that were needed to meet tall orders on short deadlines. Not only is he creative at implementing alternative solutions that work when departures to pre-existing strategies happen at the 11th hour, but he has a willingness to teach people workflow techniques that make trafficking assignments less man-hour intensive and more automated/intuitive. He is always ready to offer himself and his cool demeanor make him pleasurable to work with. His guitar playing skills aren’t too shabby either!”
